About Tom Guarriello, Ph.D.

I’m Tom Guarriello. I have a Ph.D. in psychology and have spent most of my career helping individuals and organizations to improve the quality of their lives and relationships. Fifteen years ago, I co-founded a consulting firm called TrueTalk, Inc., with Peggy Kelston. Our company’s tagline captured our approach to individual, team and organizational improvement: “Connecting People For Results.”

In 2009, I was invited to become a Founding Faculty member in the Master’s in Branding program at New York City’s School of Visual Arts, called, “The Meaning of Branded Objects.” In the course, my students and I explore our relationships with the objects that carry brand identities: our experience of those objects, how those relationships develop and how branded objects become intertwined with our personal identities.

Over the past few years, I became increasingly fascinated with the ways in which modern technologies, especially robots, were changing the psychological landscape. I began researching the psychological literature in human-robot interaction (HRI) and soon found myself thinking about how the introduction of robots into our everyday lives was about to change our lives forever.

That led me to create RoboPsych.com.
